3. [Tips and Tricks] Enabling SG-20 Access Point Support in 5.5
4. [General] Let's Hear From You

1. Holiday Hours

Because of the Labor Day holiday weekend, the NetMAX office will be closed on September 4th in recognition of the holiday. This means that NetMAX Support will be unavailable on Monday, September 4th.

Online help will continue to be available, and our technical support number will still be accepting support messages, but any support requests left via these channels will not be responded to until normal support hours resume on Tuesday, September 5th.

Thanks for your patience, and have a happy holiday!

2. IP Spoofing Note for Users of NetMAX 4.06 and Previous

This tech note is specific to users of NetMAX version L24Pv4.06 and below, and does not apply to users of NetMAX versions 5.0 to 5.5.

In these older NetMAX builds, the IP Spoofing firewall rule is outdated. If you prefer not to upgrade to a more recent NetMAX version, this issue can be manually corrected by inserting manual blocks on the following IP addresses:

1.0.0.0/8
2.0.0.0/8
5.0.0.0/8
23.0.0.0/8
27.0.0.0/8
31.0.0.0/8
36.0.0.0/8
37.0.0.0/8
39.0.0.0/8
42.0.0.0/8
49.0.0.0/8
50.0.0.0/8
69.0.0.0/8
72.0.0.0/8
75.0.0.0/8
77.0.0.0/8
78.0.0.0/8
79.0.0.0/8
92.0.0.0/6
96.0.0.0/4
112.0.0.0/5
120.0.0.0/8

Note that this list of IP addresses to block is only applicable if and when IP spoofing protection is turned on! If you have not enabled this feature, then you do not need to do this.

3. Enabling SG-20 Access Point Support in NetMAX 5.5

Users who are running the new 5.5 version of NetMAX on Magnia SG-20 servers may find that they need to take special steps to enable access point support. In order to enable SG-20 access point support with NetMAX version L24Pv5.5, just perform the following steps:

  1. In "System | Package Management" select Show All.
  2. Remove hostap-utils by clicking on the X and confirming your selection.
  3. Again, select select Show All in "System | Package Management."
  4. Remove hostap-driver by clicking on the X and confirming your selection.
  5. In "System | Package Management" click Add followed by Download Index (use Passive FTP if necessary).
  6. Select the hostap-driver package and install the package.
  7. Select the hostap-utils package and install the package.
  8. In "Home | Network | Interface" enable WLAN and input settings.

Store and Commit these changes, and access point support will be enabled on your SG-20!

If you have questions about this procedure, or any other aspect of NetMAX, please contact NetMAX Support directly.
