OpenSim™ is Flexible:
OpenSim™ is based around a generic central data model that allows the user to define exactly the situations they need to present to trainees from within their simulation application. Using an expert system-based data definition approach, every datum in the simulation can drive display updates, calculations, and scenario state changes. As the student proceeds through the mission, the OpenSim™ expert system monitors these state changes and triggers the execution of additional situation-specific training material as appropriate. If the requirements of training change, it is easy to update the knowledge-base to reflect the changes. No more paying for monolithic, inflexible point-solution training simulations that require additional programmer hours to update training content.

OpenSim™ is implemented in the Java programming
language, so it runs on Windows™, MacOS™, and
popular Unix™ distributions (e.g., Solaris™, Linux, and
NetMAX™).
A simulation can be developed on one platform and then
run on all supporting platforms with no changes.
OpenSim™ comes with an interoperability component
that allows the simulation to control and export data to
other simulations and applications in real-time.

OpenSim™ was designed to allow wide distribution of simulation data. Clients of any supported platform have access to, and control of, the simulation across the LAN, WAN or Internet.
OpenSim™ is Scalable:
OpenSim™ can support tens of simultaneous clients out of the box. With the addition of our OpenSkies™ networking layer, that number increases to thousands. As an added benefit, OpenSkies™ is interoperable with High Level Architecture (HLA) networking specifications, allowing interoperability with legacy simulation systems.
