Overlay Install Method (Installing NetMAX over Red Hat® Linux 5.2)

This section assumes that you are already running Red Hat® Linux 5.2 independent of the NetMAX installation.

A. Starting the NetMAX Overlay Installer

Unlike the Full Install methods (Console Install and Remote Install), the Overlay Install Method builds upon your already installed and running Red Hat® Linux 5.2 (RH52) system, and requires a working knowledge of the Linux command line.

Cybernet Systems strongly recommends that you make a backup of your current system before you begin.

Use the Overlay Install Method if:

• You do not wish to lose your currently installed Red Hat® Linux 5.2 installation, including its applications, users, group, machines and network configuration.
• You do not have a hard drive to dedicate to a Full Install method and already have Red Hat® Linux 5.2 installed.
• You wish to add the NetMAX remote administrative interface to simplify your Linux configuration.
